The King of Ireland’s Son
‘The King of Ireland’s Son’ was first performed by children aged 9-12 from four schools on 19th May 2006. The accompaniment can be played solely by the pianist, but parts can be provided for a flexible ensemble of up to 12 players. Schools are encouraged to explore the creative possibilities of artwork and costume to enhance the performance; above all, we hope that you have a lot of fun with performing the piece.
‘The King of Ireland’s Son’ comprises 14 musical numbers, some solos, others for group singing, all linked together by a spoken narration. Like all good children’s stories, there is a princess, a competition to win her hand in marriage, magic spells and a happy (syncopated) ending…
