Cocktails – Songs and Dances for Violin and Piano
The idea of pairing a song form with a dance was borrowed from Federico Mompou’s Canciones y Danzas for piano. In these four pieces most of the songs provide a slow movement moving into a faster dance, most of which have a Latin influence. Cocktails was written in August of 2019, each of the four pieces is dedicated to one of my violinist friends, and in each piece violin and piano very much act as partners in the music making.
