Count Me In
7 miniatures for clarinet and piano.
This set of clarinet pieces began as a demonstration piece in a large GCSE composition workshop (with around 200 children) that I was invited to give in 2004. For that purpose, the initial movement in 2/4 was written. After a complimentary response from colleagues presenting the day, the other six pieces were soon added, subsequent movements beingin 3/4, 4/4, 5/8, 6/4, 7/16, and 8/8. Of course 8/8 is really a piece with 3 beats in the bar: two dotted crotchets and one crotchet, but let’s not allow that to disrupt a straightforward idea!
