All to Play for
An operetta in two acts composed in 2011-12 for ‘Opera Room’. Duration: 3 hours.
All to Play for is a contemporary tale of Premiership football, match fixing, and glamour models, dressed up in many traditional elements of opera: a drinking song, a love duet, cross-dressing disguise and a happy ending. It is very much an ensemble piece; each character has a strong developmental trajectory.
Performances: Act 1 scenes 1-5 were twice performed at Hammersmith Studios, London as part of the Tête à Tête Opera Festival 2012.
Characters:
Martelli (bass): Manager of City FC
