A Rachmaninov Suite
4 movements from his pieces for piano duets op.10 scored for large orchestra.
The music of Rachmaninov was an early love of mine. Of course, most of his piano music is well beyond me – I’ve always thought you need a third (or even fourth) hand; fortunately, that is just what he himself admitted with his opus 10 pieces. When the orchestra at Dean Close was at a particularly strong peak, I scored up 4 of these pieces for them. They make a rather good suite, which I feel sure many other orchestras would enjoy exploring.
